Our Rare Cannabinoids

Rare cannabinoids are referred to as "rare" or "minor" because they naturally occur in extremely small, trace quantities in hemp and cannabis plants. Until recently, they were impossible to extract in large enough quantities to be commercially viable and were therefore relegated mainly to speculative research.

Many of the purported differences of potency and medicinal effect between strains of cannabis are thought to be due to their unique rare cannabinoid compositions. Each rare cannabinoid is believed to offer multiple health and wellness benefits and are currently being researched for use in everything from weight loss to dementia.

Thanks to advances in genetics, extraction and purification processes, technology, and biosynthesis, we can now bring these special compounds to you. There are dozens of rare cannabinoids and we will create new single extracts and full spectrum blends with them as they become available.

We procure our rare cannabinoids from trusted partners across the United States. For example, our CBG comes from specially bred, non-GMO cultivars with unique medicinal genetics. This means that the hemp starts out with a high level of CBG in it. It is extracted using a unique chromatography extraction technology that allows for high levels of phytocannabinoids, while removing unwanted amounts of THC and chlorophyll. Because of the gentle refining process, the CBG isolate molecules we use in our tinctures are not damaged or weakened by any harsh solvents or chemicals in the refining process. As a result of this, the CBG remains molecularly strong and has a long shelf life as it’s less susceptible to degradation from light and heat.
