Cannabis and Mental Health

May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month in the United States, giving us a great opportunity to look into hemp, cannabis and mental health. CBD, THC, and each rare cannabinoid and terpene found in the hemp and cannabis plant offers unique effects. They influence the human endocannabinoid system and impact everything from happiness and stress-resilience, to hunger, discomfort, and sleep.

Mental health is extremely important as it impacts our overall well-being. In this blog we’ll look at CBD (cannabidiol), CBC (cannabichromene), and Delta-9-THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and how they affect mood and mental health. We’ll focus on the best products to buy for specific needs. We will also touch on CBN for sleep, CBG for discomfort, CBDA for temporary nausea and other cannabinoids. This is because our physical health affects our mind and vice versa.

CBD for stress resilience

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a popular non-psychoactive compound that has been gaining attention for its many potential benefits, including for mental health.

One of the ways that CBD may affect mental health is by reducing stress. Several studies have found that CBD may be effective in reducing symptoms of stress, including stress related to substance abuse disorders, social disorder, and more. CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which plays a role in regulating stress.

CBD may also have potential for improving mood. While research in this area is still limited, some studies have suggested that CBD may have mood improving effects by influencing the activity of certain neurotransmitters in the brain.

If you’re interested in trying CBD for stress resilience, we offer: Extra Strength CBD Gummies, Full spectrum Hawaiian CBD, Broad Spectrum Hawaiian CBD, Extra Strength CBD Isolate.

CBC for mood improvement

CBC may not be as popular as CBD or THC, but CBC is an important cannabinoid when looking at cannabis and mental health. It is found in very small quantities in hemp and cannabis, which is why it’s called a “rare” or “minor” cannabinoid. Despite its scarcity, this scientific study found that CBC offered the most mood boosting effects of call non-psychoactive cannabinoids. Delta-9-THC and CBD also scored very highly.

CBC appears to reduce an enzyme called FAAH that breaks down the brain’s “bliss” molecule anandamide. By reducing that enzyme, the brain retains more anandamide.

Anandamide is a naturally occurring endocannabinoid, which is a type of neurotransmitter that binds to cannabinoid receptors in the brain and other parts of the body. It is named after the Sanskrit word “ananda,” which means “bliss,” because it is thought to be involved in regulating mood, pleasure, and discomfort perception. Anandamide is also thought to be involved in the body’s response to stress.

Research suggests that anandamide may have therapeutic potential for a range of conditions.

In fact, people who have too much anandamide say they have never felt discomfort or stress. In this case, a Scottish woman with too much anadamide likened giving birth to a “tickle”!

CBC oil, along with Delta-9-THC and CBD, appears to be able to raise anandamide and help people improve their moods.

If you’d like to try CBC, we offer: a pure CBC oil tincture, 1:1 CBC CBD full spectrum oil tincture, and THC Mood Gummies (each Mood Gummy contains 5mg Delta-9-THC, as well as high levels of CBC and CBD).

Delta-9-THC For Relaxation

Delta-9-THC is a cannabinoid that is found in abundance in cannabis and in much smaller quantities in hemp. When looking at cannabis and mental health, Delta-9-THC can have opposite effects. When taken in low doses, Delta-9-THC offers relaxation and stress relief. However, when consumed in larger quantities, it may increase one’s worries or even induce paranoia.

Like CBC, Delta-9-THC raises levels of anandamide in the brain. To get all of the benefits of Delta-9-THC without risking a negative experience, we recommend taking a low dose of Delta-9-THC and combining it with other cannabinoids. A full spectrum THC oil is ideal as the other cannabinoids round out and mellow the THC for a more pleasing experience.

If you’d like to try Delta-9-THC, we offer Mood Gummies. Our Mood Gummies contain a full spectrum oil derived from hemp. It was chosen for containing a fairly low amount of Delta-9-THC with high levels of CBC and CBD. In fact, they are the world’s first THC + CBC & CBD Mood Gummies. Each THC Mood Gummy contains 5mg Delta-9-THC, which is less than 0.3% of its weight and allows it to be shipped legally to all 50 United States.

CBN for Sleep

Sleep is essential for maintaining good mental health, and its importance cannot be overstated. When we sleep, our bodies and brains undergo important restorative processes that help us to function optimally. It allows us to regulate our emotions, maintain cognitive function, manage stress, and regulate our mood. Chronic sleep deprivation can contribute to mental health problems, so it’s important to prioritize good sleep habits and seek help if you’re struggling to get enough rest. Sleep-inducing cannabinoids are an important part of cannabis and mental health.

CBN (cannabinol) is believed to be the best cannabinoid for sleep. It offers relaxation and can help one fall asleep quickly and stay asleep longer, without feeling groggy the next morning.

If you’d like to try CBN for sleep, we offer CBN for sale in the form of extra strength CBN gummies, THC CBN gummies, and CBN products of a CBN oil tincture, and a 1:1 CBN: CBD full spectrum blend.

Terpenes For Sleep And Relief

Terpenes are other active compounds found in hemp and cannabis. They give the flowers of the plants distinct scents and are responsible for many of the unique flavors and feelings attributed to specific cannabis strains. We have combined specific terpenes for sleep and relaxation into a terpene-only tincture (myrcene, pinene, delta-3-carene, limonene, and linalool) and also have another oil containing a blend of terpenes for discomfort and relief (pinene, limonene, linalool, caryophyllene).

Hemp / Cannabis and Mental Health Summary

CBD, THC, and CBC oils and gummies are some of the most-popular cannabinoids for relieving stress, relaxing, and improving ones mood.

However, when it comes to mental health, there’s no one-size-fits-all hemp or cannabis product. That’s why it’s wonderful that so many rare cannabinoids can now be taken on their own or combined with each other for unique effects. We recommend taking a full spectrum CBD oil product and enhancing it with specific rare cannabinoids according to your needs. Please remember that none of these products are designed to treat any condition and should never be taken in place of medicine. Always speak to your doctor before taking a new hemp / cannabis oil or any other supplements.

If you have purchased any of our products and found them helpful, we would love for you to share your experience with us. You can either email info@rarecannabinoidco.com or leave a product review. You will also automatically receive a 10% off discount coupon for your next order when you leave a review (positive or negative).

Education, Sharing, Advocacy, Self-Care

In addition to looking into how cannabis may affect mental health, Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to focus on promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and advocating for support and resources for those who are struggling with mental health challenges. Here are some ways you can celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month:

  1. Educate yourself and others: Take the time to learn about mental health and how it affects individuals and communities. Share what you’ve learned with others to help reduce stigma and promote understanding.
  2. Share your story: If you have struggled with mental health challenges, sharing your story can help others who may be experiencing similar challenges. It can also help reduce stigma and promote understanding.
  3. Advocate for change: Mental health advocacy is an important part of raising awareness. Advocate for better mental health policies, funding, and resources in your community and beyond.
  4. Practice self-care: Prioritizing your own mental health is crucial. Take care of yourself by getting enough sleep, eating well, exercising, and engaging in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
  5. Support others: Check in on your friends and loved ones who may be struggling with mental health challenges. Offer support and encouragement, and help connect them with resources and support if needed.
  6. Participate in mental health events: Many organizations and communities host events and activities to raise awareness about mental health. Participate in these events and show your support for mental health awareness.

We wish you a wonderful Mental Health Awareness Month and hope that you learned something new about cannabis and mental health. We hope CBD, CBC, THC, or other cannabinoids and terpenes can contribute to your wellness goals.
